Sports injuries

We treat athletic injuries each day at Pittsburgh Foot and Hand Center.  Dr. Bowman has served as the foot and hand surgery consultant to the Pittsburgh Steelers, team physician to the Pittsburgh Penguins, consultant to the Pittsburgh marathon and Los Angeles Marathon and team doctor to the US Triathlon Team.  Our patients have included Olympic athletes, professional athletes and collegiate athletes, as well as high school and grade school athletes.  Dr. Bowman has written multiple book chapters, Monographs and articles concerning sports injuries of the foot and hand and lectured extensively to national audiences about these injuries.  We have also developed innovative surgical techniques such as the minimally invasive treatment for chronic ankle instability and our pioneering use of noninvasive techniques such as platelet rich plasma to enhance treatment of athletic injuries.  The list below includes some of the athletic problems of the foot and hand in which we have gathered significant experience.
